2023 Legal Design Derby
Join us for the 2023 Legal Design Derby! During a day-long sprint on Friday, October 27 at NCCU, law students will work in teams and use human-centered design principles to develop, refine, and present a prototype that answers a question posed by the Innovation Lab at Legal Aid of North Carolina. Final presentations of the developed idea will be reviewed by a panel of judges at the end of the day during the Solutions Showcase, and monetary prizes awarded to the top teams. For promising ideas, participants may receive financial support, academic credit, mentoring, and other resources in Spring or Summer 2024 to explore, build and implement their idea in partnership with Legal Aid of North Carolina's Innovation Lab. The Legal Design Derby is open to all North Carolina law students and is co-hosted by Duke Center on Law & Tech and North Carolina Central University Technology Law and Policy Center. Apply by Friday, September 29 either as an individual or as a team of three or four students.
