Seed Starting for Winter Vegetables

Late summer is the time to start planning your winter vegetable garden. Imagine crisp carrots, earthy beets, cold-sweetened brassicas and other refreshing greens as a reprieve from the heat and humidity of August. Join Duke Gardens horticulturist Megan Botzenhart to learn what to start from seed now for transplanting later, and what should be sown directly into the garden. You'll get a tour of what is growing in the Charlotte Brody Discovery Garden, plant several varieties of winter vegetables from seed to take home to your garden and receive other resources for garden planning. All materials provided. Meet behind the Doris Duke Center. Fee: $34 per person; 20% discount for Duke Gardens members with discount code. Parking fees apply. Register at https://rsvp.duke.edu/g1nKqO.
