Description

The D-CARE (Duke-NC Central Alcohol Research Education) Program and ND-SURE (NC Central Duke Substance Use Research Education) programs are intended to educate students in the field of alcohol use research and substance use disorders as well as provide research training and longitudinal mentoring. Students will engage in a summer research experience with an alcohol or substance use research lab at Duke or NCCU and have multiple opportunities to present their research. Students will also participate in seminars to learn about research methods as well as research ethics and professionalism, and career development. All of this work will be done by students in close mentorship with faculty members both at Duke and NCCU. Housing, some meals, and a stipend of $5,000 for the summer will be included. Rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors are welcome to apply, especially students in their sophomore year.
